Hi,

although this is not an generic Disclaim IT problem I am talking about, I thought some of you might have a hint for me how to resolve this issue:

I included a gif-image of our company logo into the html-disclaimer and it worked fine. I used the following HTML-code (placed into a table):

<td rowspan="2"><div align="right"><span class="Stil3"><img src="Images/test.gif" alt="test company" width="250" height="44"></span></div></td>

Using my webmailer I can see that the image is correctly placed into the disclaimer and IS VIEWABLE. Now when I use MS Outlook 2007 (and most of our customers are doing that) I can't see the picture. I only see a placeholder with a red X and the alternative text "test company". Unfortunately I cannot make this image viewable. I know that Outlook disables images from the internet but when I receive a newsletter from Dell, e.g., then I can rightclick the red X and select "Download Images". But this option isn't available for the Disclaim It logo. Now I thought about some workarounds and I would be interested in your opinion about those workarounds:

1) The best option would be to get the above mentioned solution running! Any ideas?

2) Upload the image to our public webspace (provider) and include the http-link into the signature <img src="http://www.our-company.com/images/test.gif" ...>. This option should a least work like the above mentioned newsletter - so I can rightclick and select "Download Images". Wouldn't it?

3) Upload the image to our SSL-secured (Thawte certificate) intranet webspace on our inhouse server and icluding the https-link into the signature. Will the image then automatically be downloaded by Outlook? This would be the most difficult solution because I had to enable our MS IIS company website which actually is disabled due to security reasons.

4) Any other ideas?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

your HTML-code specifies that the image should be added as inline (embedded) image, to be sent along with the message text in the same message.

Normally Outlook 2007 (like OL2003 and OL2010) displays inline images. On the web you can find some people saying that OL2007 fails to display inline images (only a red cross is displayed), but the reason why some are affected by this problem is unclear (security update, etc.?).

Can you please send test messages to external recipients using OL2007 and verify that the inline image is not shown to them? Please include franzk@netal.com and testdit@nethal.com (the 'h' in nethal is not a typo) in the list of test recipients.

FYI: The problems Ced had with Outlook 2007 not displaying an inline image was caused by a corrupted image file. He resolved the issue in the meantime.
