I was wondering if there are any plans for SL4NT to support the PIX's TCP
syslog option?

Yes, there are plans for supporting PIX's TCP syslog option, but till now I
was unable to get the specification
for this protocol . Maybe you (or any other) can help me. All I would need
is a network trace of a syslog tcp session between a PIX firewall and
Cisco's syslog daemon...

Colin,

Are you talking about the secure snmp option? or are you talking about
setting up the PIX with syslog...if so I can help with that. We have our
PIX reporting intrusions (light NIDS) in real time.

Hi Anthony,

Colin asked if SL4NT supports receiving syslog messages using TCP as
transport protocol instead of UDP.
Normally all syslog clients send syslog messages contained in UDP datagrams
but the PIX product supports sending syslog messages in TCP connections in
addition to logging using UDP.

The next version of SL4NT (v3.0, to be released in Q4) will support (besides
a lot of other new features) receiving syslog messages using TCP.
