I would like to request a new feature be added to SL4NT (if possible or
belongs in the product) OR maybe a new Client product that Netal could
develop, that allows it to act as a syslog client for "open file". It would
"watch" a file. Whenever something is written to the file, SL4NT or the
Client product would detect it, read it/the last entry and send it off to a
Syslog server in syslog format. The "watching" of the file would be similar
in function to the "tail -f" function. I am in need of watching several open
files (IIS W3SVC logs, custom application logs, etc) and somehow be able to
send the content (as it is written to the file) of each file to a syslog
server for review.

I know in the past when people requested a Syslog client in this newsgroup,
it has been mentioned to use the script engine. Does the script engine
support this type of functionality? If not, can this type of functionality
be added to a future release?

Thanks,
John

John,

take a look at http://www.mwagent.com/en/ . This product can read text log
files and forward them by using the syslog mechanism.
