I guess you mean syslog messages, not SNMP traps?

If you send test messages successfully to 10.2.0.9, syslog messages (not

SNMP traps!) from your routers should be received if the routers send the

events as syslog messages.

Please use the performance counter "Total messages received" of the Syslog

Server object to verify if SL4NT receives the UDP messages from the network

layer.

In addition, use Network Monitor (or another sniffer tool) to verify that

messages are send from your routers to the computer.

Did you try Kiwi on the same computer as SL4NT? If yes and Kiwi receives

messages but SL4NT not, then there's something wrong.

Of course, make sure that Kiwi and SL4NT are not running at the same time

(port conflict)

Not if you have the default configuration (which seems to be the case

because you receive the test messages).

Anyway, please export your configuration to a text file (using SL4NT

Manager) and send it to me (franzk@netal.com).

Thanks,

Franz

Hi!!

I´m trying to evaluate SLNT 3.1, but the syslog is not receiving the router

SNMP traps. When the service is active, I can see on netstat command output

that the server is listening on port 514. Sending a test message on SLNT,

the system processes the message correctly, but the router messages not.

There are several routers sending traps to this server on UDP 514 port.

If I use another syslog system (Kiwi Syslog Daemon) the messages are

received and processed correctly on 514 UDP port.

I noticed a difference in netstat output using the two systems:

SLNT:

UDP 127.0.0.1:514 *.*

UDP 10.2.0.9:514 *.*

Kiwi:

UDP 0.0.0.0:514 *.*

There is something else to configure?

Thank´s in advance.

Alexandre
